| The History of J.M.S. Recycling, Inc. Approximately sixty-five years ago, a man by the name of, George Thompson, opened “Thompson’s Scrap Yard.” Mr. Thompson’s ambitions were high and he had an overwhelming amount of ideas for his Somerset based-business. Throughout his later years of life, Mr. Thompson found that his age was keeping him from accurately and sufficiently running his business. In 2002 Mr. Thompson sought out Jeremy M. Sigmund, of Central City, PA, to offer him the sale of his business. Mr. Thompson chose Mr. Sigmund because he knew that Mr. Sigmund had an excellent reputation for being honest, hard working and very well liked by the community. Jeremy Sigmund did in fact take over the business which has since been renamed to, J.M.S. Recycling Inc. It took a crew of nine employees and several months to restructure, sort and comply with regulations and personal standards of the community. During Mr. Thompson's time of ownership, the property was viewed as a sight for sore eyes. To this day, J.M.S. Recycling takes pride in its valiant effort to stay environmentally sound, and exceptionally organized. As J.M.S. Recycling expands, we strive to promote community awareness with recycling... Not only with scrap metals, but with cardboard (corrugated), plastics, and office paper waste. Jeremy M. Sigmund, President/CEO |
